Nippon India Mutual Fund raised its stake in Coal India Limited from 1.57% to 2.02%, acquiring 2,77,79,236 shares.
India's largest coal producer, the company mines and produces coal while operating coal washeries across multiple locations nationwide. Its primary customers include the power and steel sectors, which consume the majority of its output. The company also supplies coal to cement, fertilizers, and brick kiln industries, serving as a critical supplier of thermal and coking coal to India's energy and industrial infrastructure.
